Rathfriland games fall foul to weather

WIPEOUT - Not only was Rathfriland`s league fixtures last Saturday completely washed out by the bitter wintry weather last Friday and Saturday but practically every fixture in every league seemed to have fallen foul of the conditions.

For Rathfriland Rangers though the postponement just adds to their snarl up of league fixtures over the next 6 week period. Whilst some teams in Rathfriland`s Divison 1B league have played 22 out of a possible 26 games, the Whites have only so far managed to play 12 of their 26 – less than half of their entire league campaign!.

While the weather has been responsible for a few of these the main reason for the back log was Rangers` run in a number of the key cup competitions.

Whilst some of the experiences in the cups have been memorable this now means a dose of fixtures in a short period of time. Rathfriland`s push for promotion will not be helped by this especially as a number of games will be midweek fixtures.

Hopefully though starting this Saturday at home to Ballywalter Rec Rangers can continue their push for honours.
