Portrush hit the perfect dozen to see off Saintfield

Portrush welcomed Saintfield to the Quay Road playing fields on Saturday for what would be a memorable game!

Portrush wanted an early start to the match and within only three minutes they had the first goal as John Dillon with a thumped home. Portrush were dominating possession and they doubled their advantage minutes later as Aaron Kerr added to his impressive goal tally from a short corner.

It soon became 3-0 as Dillon slotted home after good work from James McCook. Goals continued to flow as Andy Dalzell finished off after an excellent assist by Ryan Smith.

Callum McKeeman, Neil McMaster and Aaron Kerr all found the net before the break to put the hosts in complete control.

Things continued in the same vein after the restart this time a second from Neil McMaster as he was on hand from a short corner to score. With excellent possession all game it wasn’t long before Portrush had another goal, this time from James McCook who hammered home an excellent goal.

With the goals flying in all the Ports players wanted in on the act. Coach David Price evaded a nose bleed to score and make it 10-0.

John Dillon completed his hat-trick as he scored a ferocious shot past the keeper before Andy Dalzell scored his second to make it a perfect dozen. With such a massive scoreline Portrush can be proud of all the players, maybe with the exception of Goalkeeper Gordi McAllister who had an easy day at the office.

Portrush go in to Sunday’s Sussex Regiment Cup semi final against Downpatrick full of confidence and with a 100% record. The game is at Deramore Park, Belfast (3.30pm) and the team would love your support.
