Philip's excellent round wins the stableford

SATURDAY August 21 was the Bistro sponsored stableford at Banbridge Golf Club.

Many thanks to Roger and Kim for their support for this event. Congratulations to the greens staff also as the greens at Banbridge were as good as they have been all year.

Twelve players scored over 40 points and the competition scratch score on the day was nett 67.

Following a sluggish start over the first five holes, Philip McCourt had a birdie at the 12th, a bogey at the 15th and the rest pars – pick the bones out of that!

Peter Hillen had five threes in a score of 32 on the second nine but fell just one short of Philip.

The fourball containing Ronnie Lavery and Jeffery Brown are first out every Saturday morning at just after 06:30. Getting out of bed in the middle of the night to play golf is no problem to this pair; both had 41 points.

Paul McAleavey had a couple of disappointing bogies to finish his round, but a gross 69 was a fine effort and fully deserved to win the best gross on the day.
