After excelling in the recent All-Ireland Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Clongowes Wood College in Dublin, Patrick has been called up to the Irish International team for the Home International CC Championships on Saturday (21 March) and also the Northern Ireland U18s squad for the London Mini Marathon in April.

Patrick ran brilliantly to finish seventh overall in Dulin, which is a remarkable achievement at Irish level and all the more noteworthy since he is a year young for his category as a Year 11 pupil running against Year 12s.

This fine performance backed up his recent silver medal at Ulster level and gold medal at District level.

His international call-ups are splendid achievements indeed for this talented and hard-working young man.

Unfortunately, Rebekah Nixon, Banbridge’s other Irish qualifier, was not able to run as she was injured in training in the build-up.

Rebekah was also in contention for the Northern Ireland London Mini Marathon team but as the race is taking place on a Sunday, she will be unable to compete.

All at the Academy wish Patrick well on both of his upcoming events as he endeavours to add to his already bulging trophy cabinet.
