No joy at the seaside for Dromore Juniors

THERE was no joy once again for Dromore Junior team on their visit to Bangor to take on Bets in a rearranged game, going down by ten shots and taking two points.

Rink 1: G Beggs, E Walker, I Houston, A Sudlow.

Rink 2: A Clinghan, T Gribben, G Harvey, G Ervine.

Rink 3: N Lindsay, C Wilson, A Matthews, S Malcomson.

Rink 4: T Ogle, T Ledlie, H Maxwell, T Sudlow.

In a hard fought five ends the home team was five ahead. A Sudlow was in the lead by three, T Sudlow was a single to the good, meanwhile Ervine was four in the red and Malcomson was down by two.

It was a a good second quarter for the juniors when at the halfway stage their lead was 18 with three rinks ahead. A Sudlow was now at five, Ervine was leading by three, T Sudlow was 10 in front with Malcomson all square.

The writing was on the wall for the juniors at three quarter stage, only leading by five shots. A Sudlow and Malcomson were both all square, T Sudlow was ahead by nine and Ervine in the red by four.

The home team were far too strong for the juniors in the last six ends, going on to win by ten. Sudlow, in a low scoring game, won by two; T Sudlow’s rink, with T Ogle showing good form, had a good afternoon to win by 13, Malcomson found the home four in good form and lost by 12 and G Ervine found his opponents a hard nut to crack in the final ends and lost by 13.

The juniors are on the road again this Saturday playing Gilnahirk in Belfast . Tomorrow (Wednesday) the seniors are at home to Lisnagarvey in a league game.

The president and members of Dromore Bowling Club wish a speedy recovery to their Vice-President Tommy Hewitt, S McCrum J McCullough and J McKenny and hope that they will be well soon.
