News from the sidelines at Moneyslane

BBQ - Moneyslane will be holding a treasure hunt and steak BBQ on Saturday September 1.

The treasure hunt will leave the car park at the new pitch development at 6.30pm sharp.

Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket for the BBQ should contact Lenny Blakely on 07888690972 or any of the Committee members.

For adults it’s £10 per person for a steak and side salad and for kids it’s £5 per child for a burger and a hotdog.

Refreshments will also be severed on the night in the marquee.  

Moneyslane Junior section training recommences – Moneyslane’s junior section has recommended their junior training on Monday nights at the new 3G pitch from 7–8pm for girls aged 9-12 and from 8-9pm for boys aged 10-12 years of age.

There will also be training on Wednesday nights at the new 3G pitch from 6.30-7.30pm for kids aged 5-8 and from 7.30-8.30pm for kids aged 9-10.

All players aged 14-16 years of age will train on the new 3G pitch from 8.30-10pm.

All kids are asked to wear mouldies or trainers and not steel studded boots, bring a bottle of water and wear shin pads. Everyone is welcome to come along and train with one of the biggest clubs in the Banbridge District Council area.

This year there will be an U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 and U13 teams entered into the Carnbane League and IFA Development Centres, Newry and the U17s will play in the Mid-Ulster Youth League.

There will also be an U11s and U13s girls entered in the NIWFA Competitive League, such is the huge number of girls now in the club.

Bob Radcliffe Cup - Moneyslane will play Dungannon Swifts Reserves this coming Saturday away in the Preliminary Round of the Bob Radcliffe Cup. The winners will have an away tie against either Broomhill or Lurgan Town in Round One which will be played on September 8.

Moneyslane Reserves’ opening fixture - Moneyslane Reserves will open their season in Mid-Ulster Reserve Three on Wednesday August 22 with a derby game against Banbridge Rangers. It will be a home fixture played at Dromore Leisure Centre with a 6.30pm kick off.

Moneyslane Thirds’ opening fixture - Moneyslane Thirds will open their season in the Newcastle League on Saturday September 1 with a home tie against Carryduff Colts. The game will be played at Rathfriland High School.

Last Man Standing - Moneyslane FC will be running a Last Man Standing competition with the new Premier League season ready to kick off.

It will start on August 18 and entry is £10 per person, anyone wishing to join should contact Lenny Blakely on 07888690972

The rules are simple: Each week you pick a Premiership team to win and if your team wins you go through to the next round.

You cannot pick the same team throughout the competition.

All team choices must be texted to the co-ordinator 24 hours before kick-off. If you are the last person remaining you’re a winner.
