Mulhollands stay top of Premier League

Banbridge Golf Club 2-6 Mulholland A - Mulhollands kept the lead at the top of the McLean Bookmakers Premier Division with a great away performance on Tuesday night.

The Golf Club took an early lead through Carl Jones but that only kicked started Mulhollands as Wayne Jess began a three frame run followed by Neill Beggs and Isaac Mulholland.

Gerard McAvoy pulled a frame back for the home side but that was as good as it got for The Golf Club as Wayne Beggs restored the two frame advantage and he was quickly followed with two great wins in the doubles for the pace setters .

Market Bar A 5-3 Bridge Bar A - A tight match that went all the way to the final match up as either team had their chances to win.

It did not feel that way at the start as the Market raced into a 3-0 lead from Trevor Ashe, Gareth Armstrong and Neil Armstrong. The Bridge hit back through Mark Kinneen and Liam Gribben.

Tommy Hutchinson methodicaly cleared the table to restore the two frame advantage for the home side.

Ally Rooney and Mark Kinneen pulled The Bridge back into the tie with a fine wine in frame seven but a grueling final frame went the way of the Dromore side in the shape of G Armstrong and Kieran Mallon.

Cullens 3-5 Higgins - Higgins’ got back on the winning trail with an impressive away display on Tuesday night. They had to do it the hard way as after five frames the Scarva Street boys found themselves 3-2 down.

Garreth Moody had won his usual frame to give the Banbridge outfit an early lead.

Tam Bell levelled the match in frame two , Brendan McGivern restored Higgins’ advantage before two frames on the bounce from Ryan Taylor and J.R Gibson gave Cullens the lead for the first time.

Michael Ward tied up the match and set up an exciting doubles match which went the way of the visitors as Brendan Davis and Mick Keetley and Kevin Smyth / Colly Wilton won their games.

Coach Inn 4-4 Banbridge Legion - As the result suggests this was a tight match whith the Legion having to win both doubles matches to snatch a point.

Bill Thompson and Raymie Lyons gave the Coach the perfect start by winning the opening two frames.

R Johnston pulled one back for The Legion. Bert responded and restored the two frame advantage , Sid Kerr was his usual reliable self and brought it back to a single frame.

It looked all over as Tom Moore gave the Coach a 4-2 lead but the Legion showed great fighting spirit by winning both doubles to secure that point.

Banbridge R.B.L 0-8 Castle Bar A - This was definately a men against boys match up as The Castle Bar finaly showed just how well they can play this game of pool.

Ryan Fitzpatrick started the rout off and it was finished in all essence by Earl Maney.

The R.B.L. will put this match down to a bad experience and try and move on for this weeks fixture.
