Seeley does the double at Brands Hatch

Alastair Seeley produced a masterful performance at Brands Hatch on Sunday, taking his fifth British Supersport victory of the season and his second series double of 2011.

The Carrickfergus rider has reduced the deficit over series leader Ben Wilson to 43 points after his perfect 50-point haul on the all-new GSX-R600 Suzuki. He also recorded the fastest race lap and the fastest lap in qualifying for pole position. “I really enjoyed that tussle today with Ben and although there was some contact it wasn’t dangerous and reminded me of my motocross days. Rubbin’ is racin’ as they say and although the lap times were not spectacular we got the job done.

“I could do with some of the other riders getting between myself and Ben to help the points situation, but I’m now looking forward to moving on to Cadwell Park and keeping the pressure on. This championship is far from over yet,” said Seeley.

Michael Laverty took two fourth places in Sunday’s superbike races, along with an eighth on Saturday. Shakey Byrne and Tommy Hill shared the wins on Sunday.
