Meara brothers post best ever results

Loughbrickland brothers, John and Jason Meara, shone at the MAXXIS British Motocross Championships at Desertmartin last Saturday, posting their best ever results.

In the MX1 Class for 450 machinery, elder brother John celebrated his recent 19th birthday by placing 16th overall with a 14th in race one, 18th in race two and a 16th in race three on his TMC Honda.

John struggled in the wet qualifying session, but in the races he ran as high as 12th until falls dropped him down the order, but he showed great tenacity to keep running in the extrememly rough conditions to score 15 points to lift him above Championship regulars Gary Gibson & Michael Mahon.

Younger brother Jason, riding for AMR Honda, placed 14th overall on the day, his best placing so far this year.

The 16 year old also struggled in qualifying, but his race performances impressed team owner Alan Magee, and the watching crowd, 14th in race one, was followed by an 18th in race two, despite a spectacular get off over the stadium table top, and a superb 13th in race three completed the teenagers impressive day.

This weekend see’s more Club members in action at British Championship level with three sidecar crews in action at Wooley Grange in Northumbria at the MAXXIS British Sidecarcross Championships.

Lisburn crews Neil Campbel and Ross Graham, Gary Moulds and Ben Alexander, and Emma Moulds and Niki Adair from Randalstown will be hoping to emulate their clubmates’ success.

At this event last year Neil and Ross finished sixth, so they will be hoping to better that result.

The North Armagh Club wish them every success and congratulate Jason & John on their performance last weekend.
