McCormick enjoys first British youth event

Gleno’s Glenn McCormick entered his first open-class British youth MX event at Desertmartin last weekend. In qualifying, the 15-year-old was 10th-fastest on his 125cc KTM, but because he was not a registered rider for the series he had to take 23rd gate pick for each race.  Motos 1, 2 and 3 on Friday saw Glenn finish 10th, 7th and 15th respectively on the fast, dry track. On Saturday, the weather took a turn for the worse and the heavy rain had made track tricky, but the local teenager was happy with his performances, scoring a 13th in moto 4 and 10th in moto 5.

“Over the two days I made two good starts, only to crash on lap one each time and leave myself a lot of work to do against the best youth riders in the UK and Ireland,” he reflected.

“This was a big learning curve for me, but one I have enjoyed and have taken a lot of positives from.” This weekend, Glenn will be at Bells Hill, Crossgar, for an Ulster adult championship event.
