Six of the quarter-finalists in the President’s Prize fourball better-ball competition are now known.

Kevin McKay and Brian Grimes beat Mel Hylands and John Crothers at the 20th hole; Tom Fee and Sydney Pepper beat Dennis Lockhart and James Bryson 6 and 5; Jeffrey Brown and Seamus McNally beat Dean Nicoletti and Gary Williamson 3 and 2; Barry Casey and Andrew Quinn beat Gary McCormick and Colin McDonald 2 up; Joe Glass and Joe Thompson beat Neville and Jonathan Kerr 1 up; Ken Stevenson and Jim Mallon beat Garreth Moody and Aaron Buchanan.

There are still two matches to be played.

The final will be played on John Parkes’ President’s Day on Saturday September 7.

The line-up for the quarter-finals of the Matchplay Championship has almost been finalised.

Sherwin Curran beat Cathal O’Neill 1 up and he will now play Robert Clydesdale who knocked out Jim Matthews by 1 up; Kevin McKay beat Kieran Lennon 4 and 3 and he will now play Mark McCoy, who, in turn, beat Josh Lockhart 4 and 3; Michael Young beat Roy Sipson 5 and 4 and he now plays Cameron Morton who had a great win over William Malcolmson by 4 and 3; Adam McGregor beat Ian Young 5 and 4 and he awaits the result of the match between John McDowell and Paul Downey.

There are certainly some exciting games still to be played before we know who is the club champion.
