Olivia Mehaffey’s golfing career is going from success to success.
The Scarva girl has received a Captain’s pick to represent Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup in Germany next month.
The team was announced on Monday morning, confirming Olivia’s spot as the only GB&I player in the squad.
“I’m so excited,” she told the ‘LEADER.’ “I just can’t wait to be there now.
“I got an email detailing the full schedule so we get to go to the official Solheim Cup dinner and play in the pro-am. We will be staying on to watch the Cup and we have players’ passes.
“I spoke to Leona (Maguire) about it and she says we will get to spend a lot of time with the senior players.”
The Junior competition will be played at St Leon-Rot Golf Club on September 14-15 before the Solheim Cup on 18-20th on the same course. The chance to rub shoulders with the greats caps off a top 2015 for the +4 handicapper.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better year,” she said. “Everything that I wanted has happened. It’s so good to see the hard work pay off. I worked all winter and now I’m going to the Junior Solheim Cup!”
