Banbridge Academy captain Emma Quinn is delighted to be the first of her family to reach the Schools’ Cup final.
She captained the side to a 2-1 semi-final victory over Ballyclare High School to reach the decider, a feat not achieved by her older sisters Nikki and Stephanie, who both played in the school team.
The family has huge hockey pedigree, Stephanie (now Thompson) is the current Pegasus captain and an Irish international.
Now the youngest of the three has claimed a unique landmark of her own.
“I’m the first Quinn to reach it to the semi-final nevermind the final,” she said. “Hopefully the girls will be there to support us on the 4th March.”
They will take on Sullivan Upper in the decider.
“I can’t believe it,” said a delighted Quinn after Wedneday’s win. “It’s such an honour for the school. I’m still in shock really.
“Hopefully we can carry this success into the final but this is a great moment for everyone.
“It was great to get those two early goals because they really settled us, particularly because we’re not used to performing in front of such a big crowd.”
