DROMARA lad Daniel Brown (16) has a busy few weeks ahead of him as he is competing as part of the Irish Pony Eventing Squad competing at the European Pony Championships in Jaszkowo.
Daniel headed off to Poland on Sunday past and the competition began yesterday, running until Sunday July 31. His horse, Silver Fox, went on Thursday along with the rest of the Irish ponies.
The Eventing dressage phase will be Thursday andFriday 28/29th, the Cross Country Saturday 30th and the Show Jumping on the final day Sunday 31st July.
“It’s an honour and a priviledge for myself and Silver Fox to have been choosen as one of the six combinations to represent Ireland at the Championships and i’m really looking forward to it,” said Daniel.
“The last few weeks have disappeared so quickly with all the preparation needed, and there has been a lot of travel to various places for training.
“Silver Fox is looking as fit and well as i have ever seen him and the form is good, so fingers crossed that after the long journey to Poland he comes off the box fit and well and we have a chance to perform as best as we can.”
Daniel thanked the local sporting bodies who have helped him out in getting over to the event.
“This is an expensive trip for all concerned and I would like to say a very big thank you to both Banbridge District Sports Association and my own riding club Mossvale for the very generous contributions of support they have made, it is very much appreciated and I am extremely grateful for their help,” he added.
