Clann Na Banna travelled to local rivals Tullylish on Friday night for the first league meeting between the two local rivals this year.

Tullylish got the first point of the game after breaking the Clann attack down and pointing from play to take the lead. Clann hit back with left half back Sean McGarry losing his man and making his way up the line to curl over the bar for his first score of the year and to draw the game level.

Full back Mark Loughlin then played in Stevie McArdle who pointed to give Clann Na Banna the lead. Clann captain Feeney then scored a great long range effort for the Clann’s third point of the game.

Gary Quinn dummied his man and pointed from play. McGrath won possession and found himself in space and hit an excellent point from distance to extend the Clann’s lead to four points.

Tullylish hit back with two points of their own, one from play and one from a free to narrow the gap to two points. Devlin pointed from the left hand side to re-establish a three point lead. Niall McGrath got in on the scoring; having his goal ward bound effort saved over the bar by the Tullylish keeper. McGarry soloed and scored his second point of the game.

After failing to extend their lead and hitting several wides, the Clann finally opened the scoring of the second half when McGrath pointed from long range.

Gary Quinn ran the line and cut in to score another great point from play and Feeney added another point from a free to give the Clann a nine point lead. Niall McGrath made way for Liam McGarry. It wasn’t until half way through the second half that Tullylish got their first score of the second half to cut the gap to eight.

The Lish then scored from a free to leave seven points between the teams. Liam McGarry was denied a goal after the Lish keeper Aaron O’Hagan made a fantastic double save, but he couldn’t do anything to prevent Gary Quinn pointing the rebound. Tullylish hit back with three more points but couldn’t change the outcome of the game.
