Surely there is no club with more high-performing athletes across a greater range of sporting disciplines than those at Banbridge Cycling Club?
The local club were this week full of success stories.
First up, Mark Downey secured a European silver medal in track cycling while Shenna McKiverigan also competed for Ireland.
On the roads, Matthew Teggart bagged a top 10 finish in one of France’s biggest races while Chris Burns and Cameron McIntyre received international call-ups.
That wasn’t even the half of it. In the mountain-bike stakes, Gareth McKee and James Curry secured top Irish titles while John Buller raced well.
It wasn’t just on the bikes that members enjoyed success. Russell White gained his first ever international podium in the triathlon while Jenna Henning recorded victory in the UK Ironman.
“Banbridge CC would like to congratulate all our members on their ongoing successes,” said Chairman Maurice Mayne. “As a locally based club with 140 voluntary members, we are remarkably proud to have our athletes achieve such a level of success.”
