Dunbarton bowler DJ Wilson is hoping a win on Thursday could spell a good omen for his side.
The club have only won the Private Greens Senior Cup three times in their history and the last time they did it, it was a the first win of their first treble.
Wilson, therefore, is keen to secure a victory over Willowfield and give his side a case of de ja vu.
Should Dunbarton slip up against the relegation-threatened, it would come as a surprise, but then so did Willowfield’s win over Old Bleach on Saturday.
“We’re strong favourites for this one,” admitted DJ. “Willowfield are fighting off relegation but in a one off cup game, if we don’t turn up, they could certainly beat us. If we play like we can, we will win and hopefully we can.
“It would be nice to get it in the bag because we haven’t been as successful in this competition. We’ve won both the league and the Irish Cup six times and only won this one three times.”
The Private Greens Cup final will take place at Ulster Transport on Thursday evening, with the bowls inspection at 6.15pm.
