Clann na Banna Seniors are preparing for a highly anticipated local derby match this week when they travel the short distance to Aghaderg this Friday with throw in at 7.30pm.

Clann na Banna will be hoping to counce back following their 0-5 to 2-5 defeat against Bredagh.

Manager Tony Wilson says his side know they will need to perform to the best of their abilities if they are to win, however, he knows that in a derby fixture such as this, anything can happen.

Wilson said: “We put in a lot of work over pre-season and started well. We hit the ground running but after that, we picked up some injuries and suspensions, which didn’t help in the last game.

“We just want to take it one game at a time. We have a very small panel and we need to get our best 15 out on the pitch as much as possible.

“There are a couple of strong teams who were relegated last season but we’ll be pushing to get into that third spot and get into the play-off place to go up. “We hope to have Malachy Magee and Rory Hill back this week but Conor McCusker is suspended so we’ll still be missing him.

“Aghaderg were promoted last year so it will be tough.

“It’s a derby as well so I think it will really come down to whoever wants it most. Form goes out the window.

“I remember going to Aghaderg when we were going really well and they were struggling and coming away with juts a one point victory.

“If we perform to the levels that we know we can, I think we should be okay but we know that we will need to perform if we’re to win.”
