Ballyvally Archery Club will host the annual British Field Championships and Home International tournament (ABO) for the fifth time.

This weekend approx 160 archers from all over the UK and Ireland will arrive to shoot for a wide range of trophies.

This year for the first time since 2001, the Championships will include both senior and junior championships.

Two courses of 24 targets each have been set out and 12 practice bosses which will be open from 1pm on Friday.

The weather promises to be very good and the club are hopeful of a good weekend for all.

The courses offer a wide variety of terrain and it is the only course which offers two lakes to be shot around!.

The gardens and woodland at Greenmount are said to beextremely beautiful at this time of the year.

In fact, some visitors from Sweden lately were very impressed with the beauty of the college gardens, according to Ballyvally.

With almost 400 members, Ballyvally Archery Club has three separate outdoor shooting venues at Loughbrickland, where the club started in the 1970s, Castlewellan Forest Park and Greenmount College.

The local club’s indoor venue is in Banbridge Leisure Centre.

Next week the club moves outdoors and returns indoors to Banbridge Leisure Centre in September.
