Last Thursday’s Open stableford was well supported by members and visitors and was another closely fought competition decided on count-back.
One point separated the top three and it took a birdie at the 16th to seal the win for Andrew Quinn.
John Canning (21) played well for 38 points and third place. Second went to visitor Paul Whitten (23), who amassed 39 points and was looking like the winner. That was until Andrew Quinn (5) made his late birdie to score 39 points also and take the victory on the better back nine.
All three should be pleased as there were some big names snapping at their heels.
