A summer stroll for Tullylish U12s

Tullylish Under-12s ... 7-13 An Riocht Under-12s ... 3-7

THE summer break didn’t take away any momentum from Tullylish Under-12s as they recorded an emphatic victory at An Riocht last Sunday morning to keep up their unbeaten run in the league this season.

The league leaders got off to a great start when Ronan Campbell opened the score with an excellent point and with the midfield area dominated by Conor Molloy, Shea Winters and James Fegan ‘Lish soon racked up a tsunami of scores from Conor Molloy, Ordhran Connolly, Caolon Doyle and Shea Winters as they went into an eight point lead.

Another long range point from Conor Molloy and a James Fegan effort was followed by a driving goal from Shea Winters that put the visitors firmly in control as they put An Riocht on the back foot all over the park.

This pressure was rewarded when Conor Molloy added another goal.

An Riocht tried to get themselves back into the game but they came up against a strong defensive unit of Ben McNally and Danny McCartan along with a safe pair of hands in nets from Kieran Keetley. The home side did get on the scoreboard as they registered two points to leave 12 in it at the break.

The second-half started with a goal from James Fegan who continued to dominate the midfield area, however, an unsavoury incident saw ‘Lish reduced to 10 men.

This put a dampener on a fantastic display of football and allowed An Riocht to get back into the game.

Three goals and four points went unanswered by Tullyish as they searched for some inspiration to get them back into the game.

A scramble in the Tullylish goalmouth and a shot cleared off the line by Tiernan Lyness was the spark Tullylish need to get the partnership of Liam Campbell and Michael Finnegan to shine up front.

A great passing move from these two resulted in a sweet left foot goal from Liam. The same player followed this up with another two points and ‘Lish were back on track.

Conor Molloy showed just what a key factor he is to the midfield and a scored a well taken goal from 30 yards and as Tullylish dominated midfield again they began to feed the full-forward line of Caolon Doyle and Ordhan Connolly as Doyle scored two more points and Connolly another superb goal for an excellent victory.

Credit has to go to a gutsy An Riocht side who continued to play right up to the final whistle and the last score of the day was a point from the home side just before the final whistle.

Tullylish remain top of the league and continue their fantastic unbeaten run.
