Morale boosting win for Amateurs against Seapatrick

Dromore Amateurs 2

Seapatrick 1

DROMORE Amateurs’ pre-season preparations continued on Saturday with a 2-1 home victory over neighbours Seapatrick.

Following on from earlier losses against Dunmurry Rec, Wesley and Lisburn Rangers, this was a welcome morale-boosting result for Barry Taylor’s side.

Dromore got off to a flying start when midfielder Philip Smith struck a screamer from 25 yards that left the Seapatrick keeper with no chance.

Then, on 15 minutes, the Amateurs doubled their lead – new signing Steven Law capitalised on confusion in the opponents’ defence to chip the ball from 30 yards into an empty net.

Seapatrick reduced the deficit just before the break with a well-worked goal and continued to push for an equaliser in the second half – but the Dromore rearguard managed to preserve their side’s slender lead.

This was a competitive match played in an excellent spirit. Thanks go to Wayne Beggs for refereeing. The Amateurs wish Seapatrick good luck for the season ahead.
