Mixed week for U9s

BANBRIDGE Town Juniors U9s continued their development games in Portadown on Saturday when they played two games in which they managed a win and a defeat.

In their first game Banbridge started sluggish as they struggled to get any fluency in their game and only for some fine defending from Calum Kermath and Ryan Meara the locals could have found themselves behind in the early stages.

Banbridge did find themselves two down eventually but this seemed to spur Banbridge into life as they scored two quick goals, the first arriving when man of the match Jack Murray found Owen Wilson who fired high into the net and the second soon followed when the tricky Josh Kerr passed to Adam Hamilton who equalised with ten minutes remaining.

With Banbridge now pressing for the winner they were caught with two counter attacks to leave the final score 4-2 to the opposition.

When they started their second game they were again slow to get started and with half the game gone they found themselves two down but a through ball by Lee Whitten allowed Adam Hamilton to make it 2-1.

Like the first game this again spurred Banbridge on and particularly in midfield where Patrick McGrath started to pull the strings and it was his pass who put Adam Hamilton through on goal who drove it high into the net to make it 2-2.

And with only a few minutes remaining a great exchange of passes again allowed Patrick McGrath to find Adam Hamilton who skipped past the last defender before coolly slotting into the net to finish off a brilliant hat trick as Banbridge won 3-2.
