Rathfriland soon equalised after a super through ball by Keith Megaw to Micky Morgan resulted in the latter cleverly firing past the visiting keeper.

From this point to the end of the half Rathfriland were the better team and could have went further ahead.

In the second half the Swifts continued a great performance with Adrian Megaw, David Gilmore and Micky Morgan all going close although Brian Magennis did clear off the line for the home side.

With five minutes remaining Warrenpoint sneaked a winner when a slip by the home goalkeeper allowed the number 15 to tap into the net.

Overall a super performance by the Swifts with every player playing really well in a super team performance and a great workout to continue their pre–season campaign.

Clanrye Athletic 1

Rathfriland Swifts 3

Rathfriland Swifts hosted Clanrye Athletic of Newry in a pre season friendly and, after going down 1–0 in the early stages of the game, came back to win 3–1.

Pressure by the visitors forced the Rathfriland rearguard to concede an own goal but in the second half the home side were much better with an early goal coming when Keith Megaw fed Terry Toal to score with a low drive.

A second came when Paul Campbell looped a header into the net after a clearance from a corner while the third came after a great shot into the top corner by Micky Morgan.

Overall a poor first half by the home side but when they got going in the second it was much better with an improvement in attitude and football.
