Mixed fortunes for Town’s U9s

BANBRIDGE Town Juniors U9s continued their development games on Saturday and recorded a win and a defeat in their two games.

In their first game Banbridge started very positively and were soon on top early on in the game with some fluent passing football throughout the team but against the run of play they had goalkeeper and man of the match Kyle Bradford to thank with a couple of stunning saves to keep the score 0-0.

Banbridge eventually took the lead when a move involving Patrick McGrath and Adam Hamilton ended with Josh Kerr finding the net.

The second soon followed when a defence splitting pass from Patrick McGrath released Adam Hamilton who gave the keeper no chance to make it 2-0.

The opposition soon pressed Banbridge near the end but with excellent defending by Calum Kermath and the superb Ryan Meara Banbridge held on for a win.In their second game Banbridge played a very strong opposing team and although they were beat 3-1 they played some more lovely passing football and could have scored more but for the opposing goalkeeper.

Their goal arrived when Adam Hamilton skipped past two defenders before poking the ball home past the advancing keeper.Although Banbridge conceded three Alex Innocenzi was outstanding in defence while Brogan McComiskey was unlucky with an effort at the other end.

This was a week of mixed fortunes for the young Banbridge team but they showed alot of character in both games and they will take this forward into next week’s games.
