The first Ladies’ Open was played in brilliant sunshine on Friday 16 May.

Players from Tandragee, Malone, Warrenpoint, Bevoir, Kilkeel and Royal County Down joined the Banbridge ladies to play for the beautiful prizes sponsored by PORTERS of Banbridge.

The winner on the day was Melissa Whan with a brilliant score of 42 points.

Runner up was Lady Vice-Captain Lorna Poots with 37 points.

Section A (0-22) winner Susan Magennis 30 points, beating Helen Smyth on countback

Section B (23-29) winner Megan Whan 33 points, beating Kathryn Sawyers on countback

Section C (30-36) winner Marie Mills 27 points, Runner up Ann Blevins 25 points

As many as 51 ladies played on Tuesday 6 May in the Peggy Nelson competition with the prizes being sponsored by Fionnuala Crossey, Anne Magennis and Mary Quinn

The competition winners were:

Section A (0-15) Fionnuala Crossey 33 point, runner up Helen Cox 31 points beating Mildred Hodgett on countback.

Section B (16-24) Mary Longmore 38 points, runner up Sheelagh English 36 points.
