Maxwell claims top spot at Mourne Way marathon race
In horrible conditions, Maxwell started off well, but it wasn’t until the seven-mile mark that he began to move clear. He reached the finishing area over 20 minutes ahead of his nearest rival, completing the gruelling 26.2-mile course (including 8,000ft of ascent) in an impressive 3:21:00 (1st).
In the Mourne Way 10k event, Matthew Hewitt took top spot (35:10), while clubmate Lee Stirling crossed the line in 53:00 (44th place).

Hide AdDanny Hylands, competing in the Tri Limits Ironman event in Dungannon, completed a gruelling 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and an amended 28-mile run in 12:35:20, taking fifth place.
At the Tri Limits Half Ironman, (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile cycle, and 13.1-mile run) Drew Girvin finished in 5:35:00, Corey Urwin 5:10:00, and Murray Deller 5:15:00.
In Camlough, Phil Smyth took part in the Crooked Lake Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 18k cycle, 5k run) finishing in an overall time of 1:23:35 which was enough to secure 295th place. Club friend, Gareth McIntyre covered all three disciplines in 1:29:00 (374th).
Larne parkrun
Also on Saturday, the heavy rain didn’t deter members from taking part in the Larne parkrun.

Hide AdThe free weekly time-trial events cover 5k in local parkland areas. The tough but scenic route starts and finishing at Dixon Hall in Drains Bay.
Andy Guy led the 16-strong East Coast AC contingent home in 18:53 (first place), marking his 10th parkrun with a top result.
Newcomer to the event, Paul Hutchinson followed just behind in 19:10 taking second place.
The impressive and consistent Naoise McLoughlin, who is no stranger to this course, performed well to take 5th place in 20:16.

Fairhill Five-Mile
Road Race
In midweek, East Coast’s Tracey Shannon joined over 300 athletes for the Fairhill Five-mile Road Race in midweek, completing the course in 47:03 (95th lady).
