Despite rather nippy and bracing conditions the club was pleased to see a healthy entry of 20 anglers.

The northerly wind was not conducive to getting the trout moving and feeding, but despite that young Andrew Rowan in his first competition as an adult managed to land three trout.

Sadly as the competition is run on a heaviest fish wins basis, none of Andrew’s fish were big enough to get him into the prizes, but three fish on the day was a great effort by Andrew.

The club’s competition secretary had a magnificent brown trout of just over 5lbs in old money, now that is a magnificent way to start your fishing season.

Martin’s fish fell to his spinning bait and it was of course the heaviest fish of the day, therefore Martin won the Hugh Savage Cup. Well done Marty.

Full results: 1st Martin Dynes 2.236 kgs.

2nd Jim Warren 1.486 kgs.

3rd Henry McNight 1.372 kgs.

Two juveniles entered the FC Computers & Tackle Cup but sadly neither of them landed a fish, better luck next time lads.

The next competition is the AIB Cup on the River Bann on Saturday 19 March Start - Finish Clubrooms Havelock Park 10am - 5pm.
