Market Bar rack up pool’s Premier title

FIRST & Last 1- 7 Market Bar - Congratulations goes out to The Market Bar as they claimed The McLean Bookmakers Premier Division title with a great away performance on Tuesday night.

There can be no arguments from any quarters as the Dromore side have proven to be the more consistant team this season.

Trevor Ashe got the celebrations started with victory in the first and was quickly followed by individual finalist Mark Howe.

G Armstrong widened the gap in the third.

John Hickey pulled one back for the hosts which could have got the nerves twittering but Kieran Mallon kept his cool and produced a methodical finish to grab the all important point that secured the title for Owen Cull’s Market Bar.

It was well deserved and well earned so once again congratulations to all .

McGrath’s 1-7 O’Reilly’s - O’Reilly’s demolished McGrath’s on their own turf and in doing so completed a miserable two weeks for The Rathfrialand street outfit.

O’Reilly’s knew what they had to do to keep any chance of defending their championship and they definately showed just how good a side they are but just came up short in that defence.

Paul Devlin loooked under pressure in the opening frame but was cool enough too pot himself back into contention and produced a great four ball clearence to get the ball rolling.

Paddy Donaghy found himself involved in a battle royal with Mark Kinneen in the next frame which really could have gone either way and he was delighted when he sank the black for a 2-0 lead.

Colly Wilton produced his usual cool display to overcome his oponent to stretch the lead.

At this stage news started to fillter through about the goings on in The First & Last and this motivated O’Reilly’s even more so and Michael Ward produced the performance of the night to despatch Liam Gribben and move his team 4-0 in front.

Ciaran McGrath completed the demolition in the next frame but proved just a match too far for the defending champions as the cheers could be heard coming from the pub only 100 metres away.

It still ended up a great season for O’Reilly’s as they can now look forward to a fantastic match against Mulhollands in The Brendan McAdan cup final on Tuesday April 3 in the Coach Inn .
