WEDNESDAY APRIL 7 - This was the first of the juvenile sweeps, arranged during the Easter holidays.

The two winners are well known in golfing circles. These sweeps will recommence when the summer school holidays begin.

YELLOW BLOCKS: 1st, Patrick Magennis 44, 2nd, Neil Cherry 44.

THURSDAY APRIL 8 - Teams are being organised for the various inter-club matches.

Let’s hope that there is a good response from the playing members. Someone like Mel Hylands, who is obviously playing very well, should consider putting his name forward for the Ulster Cup. His handicap is ideal but is he over 30 years of age?

1st, Mel Hylands (11) 32; 2nd, Matthew Connolly (12) 32; 3rd, Graeme Woodcock (18) 31.

SUNDAY APRIL 11 - Cathal McAnarney secured his first win in the Sunday sweep in some style. He played the nine holes in only two over par gross and his nett 28 equalled the best score for this particular sweep this season.

1st, Cathal McAnarney (20) Nett 28; 2nd, Neil Clydesdale (5) Nett 31.5; 3rd, Paul McDonald (15) Nett 31.5.

MONDAY APRIL 12 - Albert Morrison is a great supporter of the weekly sweeps and he generally does very well. This is the second time that he has won the Monday sweep this season. And he reckons his third success will be sooner rather than later.

1st, Albert Morrison (19) 34 points; 2nd, Fergie Cosgrove (14) 33; 3rd, Neil Clydesdale (5) 32.

THURSDAY APRIL 15 - Jonathan Ward played superb golf in this fourteen holes sweep. He had five birdies and no dropped shots. It doesn’t get much better than that.

It was also a lucky day for Jim Ledlie. He had the only two in the competition and he was handsomely rewarded.

1st, Jonathan Ward (3) 35; 2nd, Eamon Galloway (19) 34; 3rd, Jonathan Shannon (5) 34.

SUNDAY APRIL 18 - This was Alex Clarke’s fourth win in the sweeps this season. That puts him level with Jim Ledlie in the yearlong race for the King Of The Sweeps title.

1st, Alex Clarke (12) Nett 32; 2nd, Philip Strong (22) Nett 32.
