Banbridge Town boss Ryan Waton wants his side to bounce back from their defeat to PSNI with a victory on Saturday.

Town went down 3-1 to the current league leaders before Christmas and now face third-placed Queen’s at Crystal Park (kick-off 2pm).

Watson is targeting a win that could potentially lift Banbridge as high as second place in the tightly-packed league summit.

He said: “Our home record has stood by us very well so far. We’ve got to get ourselves back on track and start off the new year with a good result. Hopefully we can bounce back and get another win.

“Queen’s drew with PSNI on Saturday so they’re very capable and have been consistently picking up results all season. It’ll be a tough test for us but any time we have had a set-back, we’ve managed to respond. Hopefully the players haven’t had too much turkey!”

Queen’s are unbeaten in their last 13 league fixtures, their only defeat coming on the opening day against Armagh City. Watson’s side go up against that daunting record without even a full quota to choose from.

“We’re carrying a few injuries,” said the boss.

“We’ll probably still have to wait three or four weeks to find out the extent of Adam Pedlow’s knee injury. He’s wary that it could be cartilage damage so he’s going to try some light jogging the next week or so. He’s out for the foreseeable future anyway.

“Glen Waddell is still two or three weeks away from returning and Paul Walsh is unable to play many games with work commitments. When you take those three players out of our small squad it has an impact. We’ve got to be careful that we don’t pick up any more injuries.”
