The league remains wide open in Division One

BUS Bar 5 O’Reillys 3: Once again O’Reillys took an early lead but as, what seems to be the usual, they lost four of the remaining seven frames to get beat.

Capt Ruby put O’Reillys one nil up but N McMurrin equalised.

Bradley Moss continued his impressive run of form to put O’Reillys in a strong position again, but The Bus Bar bounced back with Capt D Mulligan winning the fourth frame.

The Battle of the pool league veterans between Kieran Lennon and Declan McConville was one by the elder statesman to put O’Reillys a frame to the good again!

However, TBs weren’t going to lay down and they won the last three frames to clinch their third win of the season and remain in the hunt for the title!

Bridge Bar B 3 Market Bar B 5: The Market could not have asked for a better start when M McCormack D Russell and G Graham put them into an early three nil lead.

M Rice insured the Bridge still had a hope of winning when he pulled one back but P Beggs guaranteed a point for the market and retaining their unbeaten start to the season.

N Finnegan made it 5-1 so the Market didn’t have to worry about the doubles and just as well because the Bridge pulled two frames back, winning both matches.

Imperial 2 First&Last 6: The F&L finally showed their potential this week with an impressive win over the Imperial.

F&L raced into three nil lead with wins from Brian Lyness B Burns and Taepot.

Surely they would go on and win from there!

M Jamison pulled one back and the seasoned pool shark, “Rubber” pulled another back to leave a tense finish, but with C Parrott still to come in the singles and doubles they were in good hands. This proved to be right as he won the next frame to guarantee a point then Capt, B Burns, who insists on playing with Chris in the doubles, claimed half the glory when they won the first doubles match to earn the first and last their first win of the month.

Mulholland’s B 6 Anglers 2: The Anglers bubble finally burst with a harrowing defeat this week to a Mulholland’s team just coming into form.

After going two nil up with wins from Brian Burns and Mark Cosgrove The Anglers probably fancied themselves to stay top of the league!

It wasn’t to be as Mulholland’s really stamped their mark on the game with six wins on the trot from S Wilson A Bingham S Hamilton R Jardine and both doubles matches. The anglers drop down to third place after the market bars impressive win this week.

Gilford Inn 4 Railway 4: Gilford built on their first win of the season last week earning a point against the league leaders and lifting themselves off the bottom of the pile!

Although The Railway may be disappointed, other results went their way and they remain top of the table!

The match report has supposedly gone missing, so it will be interesting to find out whether Damian Paxton or Joe McGivern are still unbeaten this season.

It has been decided that several members of the pool league will be sporting moustaches for “Movember” in the coming weeks. There are approximately two or three dozen taking part and all fundraising will be going to worthy causes so keep an eye out for any opponents with a “tash” next month, primarily the Higgins and First&Last teams!

Sponsorship forms will be available for anyone to donate in the First&Last and Higgins bars as well as Micky Ward’s hairdressers in town.
