Ladies undone by late goals

In the opening 30 minutes of the match Loughgall were the better of the two sides and deservedly took the lead. A good save by Michelle Stephens at her near post was parried out only to land at the feet of a Loughgall striker who had an easy tap in to give them the lead.

The same team that defeated Derry started against Loughgall with the returning Deborah Douglas and Louise Kelly placed on the bench but with the way the match was going they were brought on after 35 minutes. Both players made an impact straight away with Dromore finishing the stronger in the first half.

It wasn’t long into the second half before Dromore were back on level terms as a great cross in was met by the head of Amanda Morton who headed over the oncoming keeper and into the back of the net.

Soon after Amanda was sent off, receiving two yellow cards. This didn’t stop Dromore, though, who continued to be the better side. Twice Kerry Taggart came close; in one instance she came from wide left beating a number of players and taking a shot from 20 yards only to be denied by a great save from the keeper.

Another chance fell to her as she attempted a chip from far out but it fell just over the bar.

With six minutes to go Loughgall got their second as they broke down the left before finishing low past the keeper from 10 yards. With only a few minutes left they got their third which was the best of the game as from 20 yards out their striker chipped Michelle in goals who could only get her finger tips to it.

Dromore can take heart from their performance though and will hope to get back to winning ways with two games up next week against Limavady on Monday and Armagh on Wednesday.
