With the defence of their league title looking unlikely, the locals know that their best chances of silverware will be the Irish Senior Cup or the Private Greens Senior Cup.

This Thursday night (23rd) the locals will face Larne in the semi final of the Private Greens Senior Cup. On paper this will be a very tough contest as Larne have greatly improved this season having already defeated Dunbarton’s biggest rivals Belmont and Ballymena.

Indeed, when the two teams met in Gilford earlier this season, the locals only sneaked home by five shots. Waiting in the final will be the winners of the tie between Pickie and Willowfield.

Two days later, the men in yellow will be in cup action again when they host Lurgan in the quarter-final of the Irish Senior Cup.

This should be an interesting local derby as the sides have not met for a long, long time.

The Gilford men will start as favourites due to their home advantage and having not lost there for almost two years, they should book a semi final spot, more than likely against old foes Bangor.
