Kayak Club returns to the pool

The lack of rain throughout the period presented paddlers with little option but to seek their thrills along the coast, although the instructors managed to teach beginners on the River Bann beside Banbridge Leisure Centre.

The club is now recruiting new members for winter training in the swimming pool at Banbridge Leisure Centre. All equipment needed is supplied on site and the pool provides a comfortable and safe environment in which to familiarise newcomers to the sport and its challenges.

Training is given by recognized and qualified instructors with years of experience in instruction techniques.

Sessions commence on Monday October 4 at 8.45pm. Applicants must be over 18 and juniors are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A T-shirt and shorts will suffice as clothing for the night.

Most sessions are finished off with a game of water polo and matches are hotly contested.
