Juniors performing well for Clann na Banna sides

The children have developed well over the last few months and there is an eagerly awaited away leg for U6, U8 and U10’s against Tullylish on Thursday May 30.

- CLANN NA DERG CONTINUE WINNING START TO SEASON - Clann U12’s entertained Glenn at Cottage Park hoping for another victory after their opening league victory at An Riocht.

Electing to play with wind advantage in the first half, Clann got off to a perfect start when Eoin Scullion goaled from distance and quickly followed this up with a brace of points from the impressive Keelan Quigley.

Given this platform, the locals went on to dominate the first half with the back line holding firm despite some good play by the Glenn half forward line. Goalkeeper Shea Cunningham, though rarely troubled, remained alert throughout the first half and denied the visitors a certain goal to keep Clann well in front at the break.

The second half began with Clann again dominating. The returning Jack Doyle and Eoin Casey each split the posts to extend the lead further. Clann saw out the remainder of the game with further scores from Quigley and Diamond.

This was an impressive team performance from a full strength Clann and if this is maintained for the rest season, there is every chance this team can make their mark in this division.

- CLANN U12s THIRD WIN OF NEW SEASON - St Michael’s travelled to Cottage Park on Sunday but were unlucky to meet a home side who were on top of their game.

Clann set the trend with a quick opening point by Quigley which was then followed by a fisted goal from full forward Diamond. Further scores from Cull, Casey and Doyle saw Clann into a strong position before a Dara Scullion goal brought the first half to a conclusion.

Despite coming up against a dominant home side, St Michaels, continued their efforts to take the game to Clann. However, solid defensive work from Helen Vaughan and Masterson kept them out and this provided a platform for some fine team play resulting in scores for Cunningham and Doran-Gartland who had now joined the attack.

At this stage, Clann may have been tempted to lose concentration as the game was effectively over but it is to their credit that they continued to play to their full potential. They saw out the final quarter with the impressive Jack Doyle giving a terrific display of the skills of the game. Once again, Clann can take pride in their performance and can look forward to the season ahead.
