Juniors hit Seagoe for six

BANBRIDGE Town Juniors Under-14s hit six fantastic goals as they beat Seagoe Youth at the Gordon Playing Fields in a League Cup qualifying round last Saturday morning.

Both teams took time to settle in the blustery conditions, however the Juniors were the first to strike on 11 minutes when Jake Dermott came in off the left wing and smashed in a super volley with the help of the post.

The Juniors began to find their feet and on 18 minutes with the blustery conditions playing havoc, Jordan Walker whipped in a fine in-swinging corner which was carried into the back of the net and six minutes later the Juniors added a third with big Michael Rafferty stabbing the ball into the back of the net from a corner.

The second half began with Seagoe coming out stronger than they ended the first as they contained the Juniors for most of the second half. However, on 26 minutes the Juniors grabbed goal number four through Jake Dermott who converted Michael Rafferty’s through ball.

The Juniors rounded off the game with 2 late goals - the first of coming from Owen Byrne who charged down the left with his low shot creeping in at the far post, before Lee Ward finished off the game capitalising on a mistake from the Seagoe goalkeeper and tapping into an empty net.

This week’s man of the match was Michael Raffery for a rock solid display at centerback, topped with a goal and an assist.
