Riders faced the challenging course with a mix of grass, mud and forest paths.

The weather was the usual mix - sunshine and heavy rain showers, so not the easiest of climates.

Banbridge Cycling Club riders excelled, even in the harsh conditions. The main race of the day was the Ulster Cyclo-Cross Championships where Banbridge CC team mates James Curry and Cameron McIntyre were in action riding in the Junior Category.

The Elite category was set off first then the Espoir Men U23 with a one minute gap prior to the Juniors who were held back for a further 30 Seconds, totalling 90 seconds down.

James Curry had a great race with fellow club member Cameron McIntyre, James only making the break with Cameron on the last lap.

The duo rode shoulder to shoulder for seven laps nearly past the entire field to finish fourth and sixth overall. That was enough to ensure James took first, gold and Ulster Junior Champion with Cameron second, silver and Junior Ulster Champion. It surely was a magnificent ride by both boys.

In the Cyclo-cross, M40 Veteran Daniel Purdy came 10th and in the M50 Super Vet men Banbridge’s Christopher McCann rounded up a fantastic season so far with a Bbronze medal.

The medals kept coming in the Mountain bike support races with Banbridge’s Joe Penny netting gold and the ever-improving Nathan Sterrit taking a fine seventh place.

In the Lady’s Mountain Bike race, Banbridge’s Ruth Aiken rounded what was a memorable day by securing a superb bronze medal.

Well done to all on what was a great day for Banbridge CC.
