Judith seals the points for Thirds

DROMORE Ladies welcomed Ballymena to their home pitch at Ferris Park in Dromore for another Saturday afternoon of league hockey.

Ballymena came out hard at the start of the match, testing out the Dromore defence and showing the locals they needed to be more alert to the attacking play from the Ballymena attackers.

Dromore picked up their game play witha great fight from Judith Ervine who made a nice run down to release to our forward line of Ciara Murphy. Ciara had a shot on target but was saved this was saved by Ballymena’s keeper.

Dromore stayed strong and dominated the rest of the first half with Nicola Clements having a sneaky touch which resulted in Dromore’s first goal of the match.

The second half came and Dromore knew the match wasn’t in the bag yet so every member of the team fought hard.

A few unlucky penalty corners saw Dromore concede a goal taking it to 1-1.

Dromore had to step it up with some lovely play from Jordan Smith on the left and Megan who was playing well along side Sadie Henry kept the attacking play flowing.

Dromore won few penalty corners which worked well but were unlucky not to score.

The last penalty of the match saw Nicola Clements again displaying great skill to beat the defender for a shot which resulted in Judith Ervine getting the final touch into the back of the net.

The last five minutes of the game saw Ballymena’s fight appear and they wanted to score however the defence stayed strong and worked well as a team.

Great saves from new goalkeeper Hannah Roddick kept Dromore out in front until the final whistle went and Dromore clinched the win they deserved.
