Josh’s treble puts Ports to the sword

JOSH Cargin scored a super hat-trick as Town Juniors Under-16s bounced back to winning ways with an excellent victory over league leaders Portadown at Crystal Park last Saturday morning.

The locals began strongest putting pressure on the Portadown defence and took the lead after six minutes when David Gray thread a lovely little ball through to Josh Cargin who calmly chipped the ball over the advancing keeper for his his first goal of the day.

Five minutes later Tom Brown put another good ball through to Josh Cargin who scored his second with a great shot from a tight angle and on 20 minutes that man again Josh Cargin burst through the Portadown defence, taking the ball neatly round the keeper and slot home for his hat-trick and 3-0 to the Juniors.

Banbridge looked very comfortable at this point but Portadown showed why they are currently at the top of the table when they scored with a high shot into the roof of the net.

In the dying minutes of the first half they had two more great opportunities but keeper William Maxwell pulled off two first class saves to deny the visitors.

In the second half town regained their composure and the game settled down with both teams playing well but very few clear cut chances.

Declan Loy went close with a long range shot that went just wide.

In the end Banbridge deserved their victory to end their recent run of poor results.
