Jonathan is the man to beat

THERE was an excellent turnout for the Open Stableford last Thursday, May 24.

Jonathan Ward (4) won for the second week in succession with a first-rate score of 41 points.

The runner-up was also the same as the previous week, namely Neil Comiskey. Playing off a 13 handicap, Neil had 41 points, losing out on countback.

P. McGarry (24) was third with 40 points and the best gross prize went to S. Barker of Mourne with a one over par gross 70.

There are always a number of near misses.

Ruaire Gillen (10) had 40 points while Roy Sipson (11), Eugene Weir (6) and Trevor Woods (5) all had 39 points.

But the man to beat in the Thursday Open is the great Jonathan Ward.
