Japanese Centre proves it can take the hits!

LOCAL Martial Arts expert Jeffrey Balmer got a surprise phone call from Shem Mitchell who teaches Okinawan Goju Ryu Karatejutsu and Okinawan Kobujutsu at the Japanese Cultural Centre in Ballymoney recently.

Shem explained to Jeffrey that Google had been in contact with the centre to inform them the centre had received the most search hits of any type of organisation or business in N. Ireland with over 200 hits an hour.

A spokesperson told the Times: “The Centre recently posted some information concerning Jeffrey Balmer from Coleraine, regarded worldwide by many as one of the greatest living experts on unarmed and armed combat and the only representative in the entire island of Ireland authorised by Otake Sensei for the ancient art of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu Bujutsu.

“Jeffrey has spent a large part of his life travelling across the globe, teaching all from private clubs, public bodies, to full military forces and numerous police units all which are well documented.

“Jeffrey has also been the only person ever from Ireland to have been the subject of major Martial Arts magazines from England to America with his first appearance in Fighter magazine in 1978 with more than thirty major articles written about him.

“Currently he is also the subject of a television documentary being produced which has followed him deep into the Jungles of Borneo to the Japanese Centre in Ballymoney.
