James gets Ulster call-up after recent Ras victory

He has received a call-up to represent Cycling Ulster at this weekend’s Beaumont Trophy one-day UCY race in North East England.

He joins fellow Banbridge rider Lindsay Watson on the six man team to race against some of Europe`s best for the 117-mile (187km) event promoted by the Gosforth Road Club.

Meanwhile, in a busy week for the local club, Cameron McIntyre came out on top of a rather misty Bobby Crilly Memorial race at the top of Divis Mountain.

In the mountain-bike scene, Gareth McKee, James Curry and John Buller were also in action at the latest round of the British MTB National Points Series. Gareth finished up 13th in the elite race, James second in expert and John eighth in the junior section.

On the continent, Matthew Teggart and Mark Downey both returned to club action after the recent An Post Rás. Both enjoyed a fantastic weekend as Teggart finished second behind only AC Bisontine team-mate Ryan Reilly at the GP Coanus in Igney. Meanwhile, Downey finished third in Majorca.
