Bann started well and were on the attack from the word go and Clydesdale had a great effort on six minutes however his header was wide.

Comrades had the ball in the Town goal after 18 minutes when McClelland chipped Wilton only to be ruled offside.

Town took the lead on 27 minutes with a brilliantly worked goal. A cleared Ballyclare corner was picked up by Dale Malone who played Clydesdale through. The striker then weaved around Munster before firing the ball brilliantly past a helpless Huxley.

Five minutes later Galbraith nearly found the equaliser but his strike from outside the box fizzed inches wide.

Banbridge started the second half in similar fashion as the first and doubled their lead on the hour mark. An accurate Malone free kick found the head of the smallest man on the pitch. Timmy Grant rose highest and headed into the corner of the net.

Comrades’ best chance of the game came with eight minutes remaining. Wilton saved brilliantly from a Forsythe header but the resultant corner missed everyone in the box and the ball very nearly crept into the bottom corner.

The game was settled in the last minute when Matier finished brilliantly, firing the ball into the back of the net.
