Kenny Stevenson won the Thursday Open last week.

They both shot three under par gross 66.

Kenny (3) won the competition with 42 points while Jim (+2) lifted the best gross prize.

Kenny had birdies at holes two, six, seven, 13, 15 and 16. That’s six in total. A lot of players wouldn’t have that number in a month - or even a whole season.

Jim Carvill also shot a fantastic 66 last Thursday.

Jim played the opening nine holes in five under par. He had an eagle at the fourth hole and birdies at the second, seventh and ninth. The course record was on the cards but the birdies dried up over the second nine.

Kenny and Jim are two amazing golfers. They have been playing the game for a lifetime and they have retained their dedication and enthusiasm over all those years.

Back to the Thursday Open.

Robin Bond (11) was runner-up with 39 points. He had a nasty ding at the second hole but compensated with birdies at holes seven, eight, 14 and 16.

Jim Carvill also shot a fantastic 66 last Thursday.

Mark McCoy (5) was third with 39 points.

A strong finish enabled Mark to edge ahead of Ian Craven, Andrew Quinn and Jack McKerr, who all had 39 points.

It was the Kenny and Jim Show though and I’m sorry I missed it.

Meanwhile, the school holidays have started and hopefully we will see plenty of the juvenile members out playing golf over the summer.

Their Wednesday sweeps have started and will continue throughout the summer.

Two have been played already, albeit with a very small turnout.

Here are the results:

White Blocks: 1st- Jamie Thompson (6) 36 points.

2nd- Matthew Elliott (12) 36 points.

Yellow Blocks: 1st- Matthew Hutchinson (21) 39 points.

White Blocks: 1st- Jack Hutchinson (19)

Yellow Blocks: 1st- Connor Woods (23) 47 points.

2nd- Matthew Hutchinson (19) 43 points.

The club would like to see a lot more juveniles out playing on the remaining Wednesdays of the summer holidays. The details of all the competitions are on the notice board.
