From the first whistle they took the game to the Roesiders playing with confidence.

Glebe came close to opening the scoring on 22 minutes when a corner from the right was met by Ricky Dunlop in the six yard box, but his bullet header flashed past the post.

Limavady United’s Friel had a gilt edged chance to score on 34 minutes when through on goal, but he was foiled by Fullerton, who stood tall and stuck out a leg for an instinctive save. But he was not to be denied, as within a minute he dashed through the Rangers’ defence, shooting low into the bottom corner of the net for a goal.

Glebe battled back to equalise through Ian Christie and can field aggrieved not to have taken the full three points as Jake Carson created space to trap the ball in the box, swivel and crash the ball off the underside of the crossbar.

It was more of a case of three points lost rather than one point gained for Jason Wilmont’s men who were more than dese3rving of taking a win from the game.

“They put a lot of effort in on Saturday,” said Glebe boss Wilmont. “We were the better team by a mile and I think we deserved the win. If someone had offered me a point away to Limavady before the game I would have taken it but I feel we were really unlucky not to get all three points. They are playing out of their skins at the moment.

“Limavady’s goal was down to poor defending on our part and was a bad goal to give away and we talked about it at half time. The lads were disappointed and said they could have done better which is fair play to them, they are setting their own standards. It’s good to see that they acknowledge when they make a mistake and hold their hands up.

“They are playing like a team now and believe that they are good players which I always knew and I always had faith in them but now they are starting to show that they realise this themselves.

“I thought Zack Barr did a great job up front. He’s some player, he can motor for a player of that size. I thought Chad Dobbin was the best player on the pitch, he headed some balls and did a brilliant job for us.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more from the players, they ran the legs off themsleves and that pitch was so heavy, especially after the storm in the first half. It was a good job it didn’t rain in the second half because if they had the game would have had to be abandoned because there was so much water lying on the pitch.

“Chris Fullerton in goal had very little to do, I think he had one shot to save in the second half. The last ten minutes they bombarded us with big high balls into the box but we dealt with every one of them.

“This is a massive month for us. We play Wakehurst this week and that won’t be easy, followed by Portstewart the week after. It’s important we remain focused and go out with the same attitude we did against Limavady.

“We are doing well and are playing well, we have only been beaten once in the last five league games but the problem is we have had three draws out of five and we need to start turning those draws into wins. We need to knuckle down at training on Tuesday and Thursday night and get at the hard work again in preparation for Saturday and keep the momentum going.”

Glebe Rangers: Chris Fullerton, Daniel Brown, Jackie Morrison, Alan Shepherd (David Reid 82), Chad Dobbin, William Beckett, Jake Carson, Ian Christie, Zach Barr, Richard Dunlop, Jonathan Spence (Sam Shaw 76). Glebe Rangers are at home to Wakehurst on Saturday - Kick-off 3pm
