Ibrox still at the top of league

Ibrox’s last gasp eight-ball showdown at the Larne club keeps their three-point lead intact at the summit. Despite holding a 1-5 and then 3-7 advantage, the football supporters hit back as they always do to keep it in the melting pot at 7-7.

Ibrox had Ed McDowell to thank, winning all four on the night. The Feathers maintained their challenge with a win over th eRockets, but they certainly did not have it all their own way. Derek Whiteside’s brace gave the visitors a strong start, thereafter it took the Feathers a while to find their range. Hugo Manson won all his frames as a good third session finally proved decisive in the end.

The Blues hosted St Comgalls and again these teams needed the extra frame format to split them. At two sessions it rested at 5-5. The home side stretched it out to 8-5 only for the visitors to reduce it to 8-7.

The No 1 Club were the first to make an impression at the Station Bar with them nosing the opening session 2-3. John McClean then saw his team put it together with seven frames on the bounce put the issue beyond reach.

The football supporters made the trip to the Rangers Club and took the first session 2-3. Billy Brown had the best stats on the night by winning three rames over the piece. The Gers sat 7-6 up and won the two at the tail end they needed for the points.

The Thatch Bar have found the winning note once more. Bill McIlroy had a good pool of players at his disposal for the game at the Eagle Bar, where ulsterbus again posted six frames. But again, it fell short of what was needed on the night.
