The club have seen some fantastic results coming so far from young Brandon Douglas, Paul Wilkinson, and Ian Weir.

However, in the Eddy Crory Memorial the club had a good squad of riders taking part, as Eddy’s first club was the Wheelers and they thought it was only right to send riders to represent the club.

But it was Thomas Niblock who caught the eye with a superb second place in this very tough race.

Thomas, like Brandon and Ian who joined at the start of the season, has been in tremendous form and representing the colours of the Wheelers brilliantly.

And so to round off a superb week for the club at the Noel Teggart Memoiral Race at the weekend, Ian Weir rode his socks off for a fantastic second place in the A4 race, getting him enough points to catapult him up into the A3s.

Race Secretary of West Down Wheelers said: “I’m chuffed to bits with the way our riders are performing and the impact it’s having in the club.

“So it’s a massive ‘well done’ to them all and I have no doubt there is more to come.

“What pleases me most is the new riders in the club who are loving every minute of it and that is very reassuring as we strive to make the Wheelers even better as we never rest on our laurels.”
