High five for U13s against Seagoe

TOWN Juniors U13s hit five super goals against Seagoe last Saturday morning at Tannaghmore Gardens.

The match got off to a lively start with Banbridge full of energy and pushing forward straight from the first whistle.

On four minutes this early pressure paid off when Caleb Schiess found the back of the net with a well taken finish beyond the reach of the keeper.

Lurgan fought back and produced a few chances but were kept out by some excellent saves from goalkeeper Billy Campbell.

Town went further ahead on 20 minutes when Ethan McDonald picked the ball up on the left wing and took it down the line, firing a perfect cross into the path of Jordan Walker, who made no mistake with an incisive finish into the roof of the net.

Banbridge pressed hard for that third goal before half time but Seagoe were resolute at the back and kept the score at 2-0.

Seagoe came out hard in the second half and managed to grab an early goal after some early pressure but this wasn’t the beginning of a comeback though, with Lee Ward finding the back of the net after a brilliant break by the Banbridge side just five minutes into the half.

With Banbridge making two tactical changes in an effort to increase the lead, substitute Michael Rafferty forced a brilliant save from the Seagoe keeper, only for an instinctive finish from Caleb Schiess to make the score 4-1.

Seagoe thought their luck was in when they scored after being awarded a penalty.

Once again Seagoe looked for that comeback, but it wasn’t to be when substitute Luke Vint turned to curl a magnificent effort into the top corner leaving the keeper helpless.

This wrapped up the win for a very hard working Banbridge side, making the score 5-2.

Man of the match was Jake Laffin for an excellent display in the centre of the midfield, showing a superb work rate and some very neat passing displays.
