Harriers out in force at ‘Storming the Castle’ event in Carrickfergus

County Antrim Harriers were out in force at Seapark AC’s ‘Storming the Castle’ 10k in Carrick on Sunday.

There was a great turnout from the club and three first places in category prizes made it a great day all round.

Louise Smart 47.06 – 1st Female (35 Category), Marian Hayes 57.28 – 1st Female (55 Category), Eileen Stewart 1:07.09 – 1st Female (60 Category); Christine Murray 47.55 – 2nd Female (45 Category), Andrena Berry 50.27 3rd Female (50 Category), Marion Morrow 1:03.45 – 3rd Female (55 Category).

Earlier in the week Louise Smart took first spot in the Female 35 Category (22.11) in the Mighty Oaks 5k, with Eileen Stewart also winning her category (Female 60) 31.28). Glenn Smart 20.49, Lisa Montgomery 26.55, Marian Hayes 27.16 (3rd Female 55).

The Harriers also turned out in force to support the annual Larne Invitational Club race, with Natasha Henderson leading the ladies home in 28.16 over the four-mile distance and Glenn Smart leading home the men in 37.08. The ladies also placed third in the team competition.

Training continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30 from Six Mile Leisure Centre, with other runs arranged on a weekly basis.
